                       On April 9, Filipinos around the country commemorate the Day of Valor, or "Araw ng Kagitingan : 'Day of Valor,' also known as Bataan Day and Bataan and Corregidor Day is a national observance in the Philippines commemorating the fall of Bataan during World War II.   Bataan served as the nation's defensive center during the four-year conflict. Bataan was captured on April 9, 1942. We honor the bravery and heroism of Filipinos who battled for our independence and national pride every year. A Season of Renewal

 Lent, also known as kwaresma in Filipino, is the season during which Filipinos remember Christ's passion, suffering, death, and resurrection. The Philippines is noted for being Asia's sole predominantly Christian country, with a large population of devoted Catholics, which explains why Lent Season or Holy Week traditions are regularly observed in a unique manner. It begins on Palm Sunday, continues through Holy Monday, Holy Tuesday, Holy Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and ends on Easter Sunday. During the Lenten season, Filipino Catholics engage in various traditional practices. The first day of Lent is Ash Wednesday. Ashes are traditionally placed on the forehead of Catholics as a sign of interior repentance. Fasting and abstinence are fundamental Catholic practices; some Catholics eat only one meal per day, while others abstain from eating meat on Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, and all lent Fridays. Kannawidan Festival is indeed one of the most beautiful festivals in the country. You can not only see their products, you can also see its people showcasing of indigenous performances, religious rituals, as well cooking demos featuring the best of Ilocano dishes. The Kannawidan Ylocos Festival encourages the younger generations to learn the indigenous songs and dances of the province of Ilocos Sur.   As the final week of January comes into action, Biguenos and other Ilocos Surians all gather in the Tamag Grounds to celebrate one of the events that would set the bar for the year, the Kannawidan.
