Let us trace the origins of the Binatbatan festival and learn more about what transpired in December 1882. Festivals are a creative approach to honor our rich history, culture, and traditions. They are supposed to be shared with loved ones to celebrate key moments and feelings in our life. They play a vital part in our social life by providing structure and connecting us to our families and backgrounds. Because of the current pandemic, this year's Vigan Binatbatan event will be different from past years.   The binatbatan dance was performed at this festival. This festival pays homage to the old Ilocanos. Binatbatan is an Ilocano dance that illustrates the initial phase in the weaving process of Abel Iloko. They utilize two bamboo sticks that are 18 inches long. To separate the seeds from the fluff, the cotton pods must be thrashed with these two bamboo sticks. The pounding procedure is known as binatbatan. That is why, while the rest of the dancers dance, some others beat the...

The Secret to Success

We're almost done with three of the four quarters. These eight weeks of courses and Google meetups have been exhausting, infuriating, and demanding while also being really intriguing. Despite the problems I had, I felt like this third quarter demanded more essays than before, and I'm not going to say it was simple or enjoyable because it was a lot of effort. However, because of my hard work and commitment, I was able to learn a lot this quarter. This quarter's ICT classes centered on community-based research, and it was my first time seeing a sitemap, which depicts a website's structure. Given that I browse websites on a daily basis and am learning how to create my own, it's actually a pretty intriguing topic. Because I was working with my friends on the final product, it was relatively enjoyable, but collecting data for the study was frustrating. The feelings I've had during the third quarter are incomparable to those I've had in previous quarters. I was ...

A Season of Renewal

Image
Lent, also known as kwaresma in Filipino, is the season during which Filipinos remember Christ's passion, suffering, death, and resurrection. The Philippines is noted for being Asia's sole predominantly Christian country, with a large population of devoted Catholics, which explains why Lent Season or Holy Week traditions are regularly observed in a unique manner. It begins on Palm Sunday, continues through Holy Monday, Holy Tuesday, Holy Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and ends on Easter Sunday. During the Lenten season, Filipino Catholics engage in various traditional practices. The first day of Lent is Ash Wednesday. Ashes are traditionally placed on the forehead of Catholics as a sign of interior repentance. Fasting and abstinence are fundamental Catholic practices; some Catholics eat only one meal per day, while others abstain from eating meat on Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, and all lent Fridays. Senakulo is a traditional play depicting Jesus Christ's suffering...
